Description
I waited all summer for this single lotus blossom. We spent an entire day together, me immersed in the water and her rising up out of it towards the sun. I photographed her in every way. After a break mid-afternoon, when I entered back into the water, I noticed how lovely her reflection was in the water. As much as I love digital effects, there aren't any in the reflection of this beauty in her watery home.
She was originally photographed upside down because I was behind her. And I also think that people who view it think I've digitally enhanced it to look like it did naturally, not realizing it is a reflection. So I turned her right side up so she could be admired the way she looked through my eyes. My first attempts at water gardening yielded this lovely, perfect bloom.
I no longer live where this pond was. And I never saw another bloom on this lotus plant. I will remember this great day immersed in the pond fondly as I gaze at this image.
