Winter in Michigan in the United States is breathtaking. All the seasons are. Each one has its own character. This image shows reflections of the naked trees cast over the ice and silhouetted against the gorgeous gold and amethyst sky. It defines the beauty of the quiet season of winter. It is my home. My neighborhood. Our lake we share with our neighbors.
I photographed this one specifically for my neighbor, Mary-Jelisse. Her name is as cool as she is. She lives in the house with the thin, long, lit-up window. I often marvel and capture her home set against the beautiful backdrops of season after season. Her favorite color is purple. So this one is for her. Someone told me in a neighborhood meeting once that people get sick of continual pictures of sunsets and sunrises. They were wrong. I never tire of it. To me, it is God and Mother Nature collaborating in their finest hours to create a masterpiece for all of us who want to take the time to stop and witness its brief beauty.
