Description
The famous poet, William Butler Yeats, and his wife, George, briefly lived at Thoor Ballylee, a castle built in the 15th century in Gort in Galway, Ireland.
Yeats bought the property in 1916. He lived there with his family until 1929. Yeats dropped the name 'castle' and renamed it Thoor, or tower, thus the place has been known as Thoor Ballylee ever since.
