Description
In Dublin, Ireland, these angels grace the base of a bronze statue of Daniel O'Connell. He was a famous Irishman who won emancipation for Ireland's catholics and advocated the values of nonviolent Irish nationalism.
What really stuck with me, were the bullet holes on two of the angels from the 1916 Easter uprising. The English fired upon the angels. You can clearly see the bullet hole in the elbow of the angel on the left. The angel on the right has a visible bullet hole in her collar bone area. They are symbols of beauty, endurance, hope, and fierce determination to me.
