Artist's Description

I participated in a fundraising event one beautiful, starry, Michigan summer night in honor of our friend, Luanne, who had cancer. She was there, feeling awesome, surrounded by her family and friends. We sang, danced, laughed, walked, camped, and raised a ton of money for this very special cause.

We walked for 24 hours, in teams, in tandem. I hadn't stayed up all night since I was very young. It was interesting. The soft light of the candles in the luminary bags glowed all night, lit our path in the complete darkness, and were all decorated in honor of a loved one.

Luanne dances with the stars now. The memories of that 24 hours make me smile, remind me of the generosity, tenacity, and strength of the human spirit as well as the deep bond between friends that lives on long after we are gone.

May these luminary be a remembrance and tribute to all those we love and have lost who brightened our world with their light.

Now that I'm in my 7th decade, my free spirit has settled down a bit (the hearse owner would be glad). Still, curiosity, creativity, and an eye for beauty define me. Lots of things inspire me in my art. I love traveling, and have been afforded the opportunity to see wonderful places all over the world. I then share our travel destinations with others so they can experience the beauty out there too. Another passion of mine is ornamental gardening. Flowers...
