Description
This great white egret is fishing for his lunch. Like all egrets, he is a member of the heron family. Scientific name is Ardea Alba. They live in tropical and warmer temperate regions of the world, building tree nests close to the water.
The great egret can stand up to 3.3 feet tall and have a wing span as much as 67 inches. It is slightly smaller than the great blue heron. It can be told apart from other egrets because of its yellow bill and black legs and feet.
I was able to get very close to him as he fished. He was beautiful, majestic, and very large! I got my image and back off quickly.
