I first saw this dahlia at a wedding. As a floweraholic, I fell in love. It took me a while to find out the name of the flower, how to grow it, and where to buy it. I had avoided dahlias in my garden, because in Michigan they need to come out of the ground in the fall and replanted in the spring. Sounded like too much work. But for this flower, I fell hard for dahlias.
Fast foward to this summer, and she was worth it. This dahlia is named Cafe Au Lait. Her soft pastel coloring is perfect for brides, of course. She is a marvel in any garden.
I have to admit that her first bloom excited me so that I photographed it every day for the two weeks it took for her to fade. She was a perfect specimen; a gift from mother nature; a joy to view. I put number 1 after the name because there are more to come. Of course! :)

My memories begin as a five-year-old-free-spirit discovering and creating anything 'beautiful.' I was bold, creative, curious, and loved adventure.
