Description
This bronze monument of Daniel O'Connell, pays tribute to the famous Irishman who won emancipation for Ireland's catholics and advocated the values of nonviolent Irish nationalism.
The O'Connell Monument, in Dublin, Ireland, is also known as the meeting place of locals and is called 'The Angels.' Four angels surround the base of the statue and represent the 'winged victories'; patriotism, courage, eloquence, and fidelity. There is evidence of bullet holes in several places on the statues. from the 1916 Easter Rising.
The statues were created by John Henry Foley from in the mid 1800s.
