Artist's Description

On a late spring morning in Michigan, a baby Baltimore Oriole fell out of the nest a bit too soon. His parents had their nest very high in a tree, and it was full of hungry babies.

It was no surprise that this little fellow fell out. He clung to a low shrub and cried often so his parents knew where he was. They both came over and check on him regularly. He held tight, napped, and allowed me to get very close.

I wanted to touch him, save him, feed him... but I let his parents and Mother Nature care for him and hoped for the best. These brilliant, orange Orioles come in spring and eat our oranges and grape jelly like crazy. Then after their young are born, they move on.

I already miss their sweet song as spring becomes summer. I hope this little friend made it and comes back for a visit next year. I'll be waiting.

About Jill Love

Jill Love

My memories begin as a five-year-old-free-spirit discovering and creating anything 'beautiful.' I was bold, creative, curious, and loved adventure. It stands to reason that when I spray painted the neighbor's black hearse a sparkling shade of silver that I was destined to be an artist. Now that I'm in my 7th decade, my free spirit has settled down a bit (the hearse owner would be glad). Still, curiosity, creativity, and an eye for beauty define me. Lots of things inspire me in my art. I love traveling, and have been afforded the opportunity to see wonderful places all over the world. I then share our travel destinations with others so they can experience the beauty out there too. Another passion of mine is ornamental gardening. Flowers...
