I’ve always loved them...especially the big puffy ones your captured. Some varieties are small, “pearls” of fur and are nowhere near as dramatic and wonderful as the Northern ones.. beautiful Jill! Thank you for the beauty and smile :)))

Artist's Description

Pussy willows are late winter and early spring bloomers in the area of the United States that I live in; Michigan. They are the first signs of the warmth of spring and new life budding forth as the slumber of Winter gives way to Mother Nature's finery.

These silver, fuzzy harbingers of spring last for years if cut and dried. If left on their branches, they produce catkins, which are the flowers being protected by the fuzzy shells.
I don't think there's anyone in our cold, wintery weather who doesn't appreciate this first glimpse of spring and what is to come following its presence.

Now that I'm in my 7th decade, my free spirit has settled down a bit (the hearse owner would be glad). Still, curiosity, creativity, and an eye for beauty define me. Lots of things inspire me in my art. I love traveling, and have been afforded the opportunity to see wonderful places all over the world. I then share our travel destinations with others so they can experience the beauty out there too. Another passion of mine is ornamental gardening. Flowers...
