There is something about a peony. Although I love all flowers. Peonies are still my favorite flower. Spring's greatest gift to me. This closeup of the first bloom of the season here in Michigan excites me for many reasons; for the promise of the beauty of the garden's new season, for the intricate beauty in its lack of symmetry in the petals from the way they layer together, their petal shape itself, right to the edges all being varied. This is truly not common in most flowers. A peony marches to the beat of a different drummer. She's 'different'. Like me.

My memories begin as a five-year-old-free-spirit discovering and creating anything 'beautiful.' I was bold, creative, curious, and loved adventure.
