Description
In the walled city of Sienna in Tuscany, Italy, I was so taken with the beautiful architecture; so old, so beautiful, so colorful! Why is it we do not preserve our old buildings like they do for centuries? The texture in the walls, the clay tile roofs, the shuttered windows are all so much more interesting to me than today's contemporary architecture here in the United States. We, too often, discard our historical architecture to make way for the new. Until my trip to Italy, I had no point of reference for buildings this old. It reminds one how new our country is in comparison!
The narrow streets, the quaint shops, the rich history of the Italians everywhere one goes. Their pace of life is admirable. It's like fine wine or fine art; they take their time, they savor, they experience.
Not even these local shoppers seemed rushed. I have wonderful memories of my time there and hope to go back someday.

Love how the two buildings are juxtaposed showing their ages and colors. Great capture.
