Description
This beautiful rock was found in Vermont outside of Stowe in a small place called Duxbury. The white lichen all over it was amazing. It is a crustose type of lichen that sticks closely to the surface it is growing on. I’m not a rock person so I can’t tell you what makes the red, black, and amber colors in the rock. There is a mineral called garnet that runs red through the rocks in Vermont so that could possibly be it. This looks like shale to me as well. The photograph made for an interesting abstract.
