Artist's Description

When the trees go bare in the winter in this rural area of Michigan, this farm reveals itself. On this day, it was even too cold for the horses to be out. The corn bin was empty. The land slept and the isolation and cold of a grey winter day settled into my bones and almost made me turn around as I stood in snow and debris up to my thighs.

But the red barn set off by the snow-covered picket fence against the otherwise dreary, lifeless landscape was a reminder there is always something beautiful to see if you take an extra moment and really look.

I created both a landscape and a portrait image of this barn. I like them both and am grateful for staying that extra moment to capture this.

Lots of things inspire me in my art. I love traveling, and have been afforded the opportunity to see wonderful places all over the world. I then share our travel destinations with others so they can experience the beauty out there too. Another passion of mine is ornamental gardening. Flowers...
