Description
This pink pond water lily sits among new leaves, perfect in its form. A single forget-me-not flower floats nearby with the remains of petals of another sitting on the lily’s petal. I don’t think I even noticed originally that a green dragonfly sat off to my left.
Water lilies are star-shaped flowers that grow from tubers. They can be grown in pots as well as in large bodies of water. Their round leaves look to be sliced upon on one end.
The water lily, or Nymphaea, to scientists, shade the water with their large leaves to keep the water temperature down during the hot summer months. By blocking the sunlight, they keep the algae growth down. They are invasive, however, and should be treated as such.
