When my mama died, she left a hole in my heart and in my life bigger than the ocean. My dear friends gave me a gift card to the greenhouse to grow something beautiful to remember her by, as I am a gardener. I learned it from her. As a child, she'd have me plant tulips in the fall for her. She said I'd complain the whole time I did it. But when they came up in the spring, I'd be the first one to tell everyone that I was the one who planted them. We nurtured lilacs and peonies and tulips and roses as I grew up. Today, I am surrounded by gardens and keep our mutual love of flowers alive.

My memories begin as a five-year-old-free-spirit discovering and creating anything 'beautiful.' I was bold, creative, curious, and loved adventure. It stands to reason that when I spray painted the neighbor's black hearse a sparkling shade of silver that I was destined to be an artist. Now that I'm in my 7th decade, my free spirit has settled down a bit (the hearse owner would be glad). Still, curiosity, creativity, and an eye for beauty define me. Lots of things inspire me in my art. I love traveling, and have been afforded the opportunity to see wonderful places all over the world. Congratulations on your Administrator's Pick in A Woman's Touch group! Wow, trying to get rid of the chills here after reading your most beautiful tribute to your precious Mama. Such a glorious and almost sacred macro capture. White is my favorite as well, and as far as grief goes, it does indeed remain ever present. Lilacs are strong childhood memory of my mom for me, and they are about to burst forth in bloom. Signs of our angels are everywhere if we look close.
