Description
This still life is of my mama's Flow Blue porcelain pot. It has no lid, so I filled it with spring daffodil flowers and pussy willow. The beautiful, vintage lace curtain (on loan from my dear friend, Teri) gave the image the feeling of an old homestead on a spring morning as the sunshine streamed in through the open wndow, leaving a beautiful pattern of the lace in the shadows.
Flow Blue procelain china was made in the 1800s by the Staffordshire potters of England. The name is derived from the blue glaze that blurred or 'flowed' during the firing process. This particular piece is a 'biscuit jar.' I have no idea where my mama got it because it's much older than she was, I kept it because she loved blue. It reminds me of her when I use it.
