Artist's Description

This still life image of a slip trail pottery vase made in the Middle East was a perfect vessel for this Queen Anne's Lace flower. The colors and shapes mimic each other perfectly. And what an interesting juxtaposition at the same time of something from the Middle East nestled with a common weed found along the roadside in the United States!

I walked by and immediately stopped and was immersed with the beauty of the mimicking, the hard and rough texture of the vase against the soft, gentle texture of the flower. Queen Anne's Lace is this miraculous network of tiny flowers in clusters within larger clusters that come together to create one large cluster.

This flower, a common weed albeit beautiful, is named after Henry the VIII's wife, Anne Boleyn because of the red center that usually appears in every flower. The center itself is also a tiny red flower. As the story goes, the red in the middle represents Anne losing her head and, as she always wore lace collars, the...

It stands to reason that when I spray painted the neighbor's black hearse a sparkling shade of silver that I was destined to be an artist. Now that I'm in my 7th decade, my free spirit has settled down a bit (the hearse owner would be glad). Still, curiosity, creativity, and an eye for beauty define me.
