Description
I've long loved photographing the echeveria succulent because of its natural glow-like qualities. It's captivating. I have many photographs of them, but this one really captivated me as having the right symmetry, color, and form.
These succulents are native to Mexico and South America, so here in Michigan, they are annuals outside or people pot them and grow them inside. I do neither. Although I'm a gardener, I kill any plant I bring inside. I don't know why. I just do. It happens no matter what I do. I'm not big on annuals because they die. So unless it's a perennial, I admire them from afar most of the time. Which would be the case with this lovely specimen.
His color and glow in all the hues of blue and teal and lavender with the pink edges caught my eye. I captured this image with my cell phone, did some adjustments in my phone, on my computer, and then back to my phone for the final touches. The original is much like this image, I tweaked the color, contrast, texture, and light. I usually make four or five versions, go through them when I'm all done, and delete all but the original and the one that strikes me as the one that best fits my vision.
