Description
I grew up in a small town neighborhood and didn't experience country living until I was an adult. I love the rural dirt roads, the farmland, the barns, the farmers on their tractors harvesting, and visiting the baby animals when they are born in the spring.
This farm, the Murdock farm, was walking distance from my home for 13 years. I called it the Walsh Shire. The valleys on the farmland would fill with fog on cool mornings, and the sunsets over the woods in the back were spectacular. The pond filled with ducks and swans, the cows, the horses, all of it.
The life of a farmer is hard. They have a remarkable work ethic. I respect and admire them. The food on my table is a tribute to their sweat and toil, their love and dedication.
As urban sprawl continues, and the farmer is lured with big dollar promises for their land, I pray some of them stay connected to the land they love and continue to provide us with the sustenance we need.
