Description
On vacation to the water, unlike most, I am up before dawn. I'm on the hunt for cumulus clouds and pastels, calm waters, quiet beaches, for the serenity and majesty of it all.
My fondest wish is to spend my birthday with my toes in the sand. My 68th did not disappoint. I waited 10 days for the cumulus clouds to show before dawn on this trip.
I stood in awe. Speechless. The only sounds were the birds and the gentle movement of the water as it lapped up onto the sand. I never feel more alive, more grateful for the gift of life, and sight, and nature as these moments when the sun rises up onto the horizon and when it sinks down below it again. It reminds me of Key West, because the people there understand its glory and stop everything to witness it in reverence. I know, I might sound weird, but that's okay.
Be the light. Feel the light. And for me, I share the light by capturing the moment for you.
This one is dedicated to Julia, the lovely painter from Canada I met as I was celebrating another trip around the sun. I'd see her out at dawn and again at sunset. Like me, she sought out these moments too.
