Description
This iconic, old cider mill comes to life every autumn, pressing apples for fresh cider, making warm doughnuts, and selling other popular tourist treats like bread and sweets. The apple crates still sit outside, waiting for the next season. I love the red of the barn against the beautiful, blue sky with the new fallen snow creating this beautiful, idyllic winter scene of peace.
Dexter, Michigan, is outside of Ann Arbor and is a quaint, small community settled in 1824, 13 years before Michigan became a state. Judge Samuel Dexter originated the village and it was platted in 1830. Mill Creek and the Huron River form the western and northeastern boundaries of the village that is now officially a city. The cider mill originated in 1886 and is still a beautiful landmark that opens its doors to visitors every autumn.
