Description
Arlington National Cemetery outside of the United States' Capital of Washington D.C., is in Arlington VA, right across the Potomac River. It is a national treasure like no other. The thousands of white sun-bleached tombstones that cover the lush, green hills will take your breath away. These military men and women and their families made this historic landmark their final resting place.
The cemetery's monument markers are lined up perfectly from every angle or direction. Nothing is out of place. In its solemnness, there is a meloncholy beauty to it. In summertime, the crepe myrtle are in full bloom and dot the hills with bursts of beautiful color.
Many military personnel from the Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Desert Storm, etc., are buried here with their families. There are over 600,000 graves.
The reverence, the patriotism, the gratitude I felt as I visited this memorial will last me forever. God bless their souls.
